Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, opened the activities of the ninth annual scientific conference of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Microimaging at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, under the title “The development of scientific research and technical developments and their impact on the development of diagnostic and interventional radiology,” in the presence of Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals, Prof. Mohamed Abu Al-Huda, Professor of Diagnostic Radiology and Chairman of the Conference, and Prof. Annie Nasr, Head of Department.
Prof. Mohamed Diaa, in his speech, expressed his pride in the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at Ain Shams University, stressing the university’s pioneering role in supporting scientific research and continuous medical development, driven by pioneering research in recent years to achieve accurate and specialized medical and community service for all patients, especially those who are unable.
His Excellency also directed the necessity of preparing a next generation of radiologists who keep pace with technological developments and is keen on ethical considerations, such as data privacy, to achieve excellence in research and patient care.
He praised the role of companies supporting medical research and their constant cooperation and optimal exploitation of modern technology, stressing that the innovations and research presented at this conference are a testament to the exceptional capabilities capable of transforming health care, improving patient recovery rates, and making a lasting impact on society.
Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals, addressed the audience and praised the excellence of the Radiology Department in constant cooperation, continuous follow-up, interest in attending conferences, benefiting from the expertise of professors and pioneers of the Radiology Department, and constant support to keep up with everything that is new and advanced.
He stressed that the modern technical developments witnessed by Ain Shams University Hospitals in the radiology department, which is an essential element in the new emergency hospital that is nearing completion in Ain Shams Medical City, is distinguished and unique in having a radiology unit in the heart and chest surgery hospital equipped with the latest advanced devices, an ultrasound unit attached to the department and an accurate and specialized CT scan machine, in addition to a radiology unit in the Children’s Surgery Hospital. Procedures are being completed to open it soon, in cooperation with the Engineering Department of the Engineering Consultation Center.
In addition to a device equipped with the latest international standards in the previously opened interventional radiology unit, the continuous and successive development with the contribution of supporting companies specialized in the field of radiology enhances the role of hospitals and contributes directly to achieving the goal of the medical city.
The conference activities included several scientific lectures in the fields of diagnostic and interventional radiology and molecular imaging, in addition to discussing several sessions, the most important of which was the session on artificial intelligence and its role in the development of radiology, an imaging session on chest diseases and gynecological diseases, and scientific sessions on the role of diagnostic radiology in neurological diseases. The conference discussed several workshops on the role of magnetic resonance imaging in neurological diseases, the development of artificial intelligence devices, and the role of sound waves in the motor system.
The conference sessions extend over the first and second Monday and Tuesday of July under the supervision of the conference organizing committee, which includes: Prof. Gamal Niazi, Prof. Aya Yassen, Prof. Menna Hatem, Prof. Ahmed Othman, with the participation of an elite group of faculty staff and specialized radiology professors, including: Prof. Alia Al-Fiqi, Prof. Waheed Tantawi, Prof. Ahmed Al-Dari, Prof. Sameh Abdel Wahab, and Prof. Osama Hatta.
