The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research honors Ain Shams University for occupying third place locally in the QS World University Ranking
Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, honored Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abedeen, President of the University, during the activities honoring the universities listed in the English QS World Ranking 2025, where Ain Shams University came in third place locally, ranking 592 globally, advancing 133 places from the previous place.

Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held a meeting with representatives of the QS World Ranking, in the presence of Dr. Ashwin Fernandez, CEO of the QS Ranking for Africa, Middle East and South Asia region, and Rami Awad, Regional Director of the QS World Ranging for Prof. Hossam Othman, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Innovation and Scientific Research, Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary of the Association of Arab Universities, Prof. Alaa Ashmawy, Head of the National Authority for Educational Quality Assurance and Accreditation, Prof. Abeer Al-Shater, Assistant Minister for Technical Affairs and General Supervisor of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, and a group of university presidents, ministry and university leaders, and faculty staff, with the participation of the presidents of the fifteen Egyptian universities that were included in the classification according to its latest release for the year 2025, which included the ranking of 1,500 universities from various universities in the world.
         
   
         
Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen pointed out that honoring the university comes as a culmination of the university’s preservation of its international leadership position among the international universities classified as the best universities at the international level by one of the most important institutions of the global international classification of universities in the world (QS), praising the efforts of the university’s work teams in improving the global classification, explaining This comes as a reflection of the university’s success in implementing the vision and strategy of the Egyptian state by improving the quality of education, improving the services provided in education and scientific research, supporting researchers, community service, and consolidating the university’s relationship with society.

His Eminence affirmed that the university was able, through its strategic plan, to improve its ranking in the various international classifications, as it achieved many jumps in the international classifications during the recent period, to support its competitive capabilities among universities, develop the educational and research system, support researchers, and encourage international publishing in journals with a high impact factor.

It is noteworthy that the QS World Ranking is based on four factors: academic reputation (30%), alumni reputation (15%), the ratio of faculty staff to students (10%), the volume of citations from research for faculty staff (20%), and Foreign faculty staff (5%), international students (5%), and the network of published research among researchers belonging to more than one country. This ranking also improved the evaluation methodology by introducing three new measures: sustainability (5%), and the employment results of university graduates (5%), and the International Research Network (5%).
