Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Islam Abu Al-Majd, Chairman of the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, witnessed the discussion of graduation projects of students of the fifth batch of the professional diploma specializing in remote sensing and geographic information systems in partnership between Ain Shams University and the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences.
This came in the presence of Prof. Nevin Assem, CEO of the Innovation and Training Sector, Prof. Rasha Ismail, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Mohamed Al-Khatib, Assistant Secretary of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, in addition to faculty staff from the Faculties of Arts, Education, Science, Agriculture, and Girls, at Ain Shams University, heads of scientific divisions at the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, and representatives of geographic information systems companies.
In his speech, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen praised the cooperation and integration between the Authority and the university to achieve specific goals in this effective and influential way, stressing the importance of the diploma, which receives attention from several faculties at the university, such as: Agriculture, Computer and Information Science, Engineering, and Education and Arts, pointing out that the professional diploma provides a number of solutions to societal problems. It is extremely important, which contributes to the goals of sustainable development, pointing out that the university’s scientific research strategy is linked to Egypt’s strategic goals for the year 2030. He added that the diploma fulfills the requirements of the labor market and provides a graduate prepared to join it.
The university president explained that there are new and creative ideas for future cooperation between the university and the authority, by opening new horizons for the master’s and doctoral levels individually in their specialization.
Prof. Islam Abu Al-Majd, Chairman of the Authority, expressed his happiness in cooperating with the prestigious Ain Shams University, stressing that the diploma is unique in containing a scientific curriculum that includes theoretical aspects and geographic information systems, so that training provides scientific and applied skills for graduates of various universities and faculties in subjects of study related to the field of those technologies or those who It enhances the job opportunities available to them in this field, especially with the increasing demand for specialists and professionals around the world.
He pointed out that the diploma has achieved great successes, wishing success and success to all graduates of the diploma who have achieved the highest capabilities in technical skills and opened work opportunities in major companies in the labor market, calling for more aspects of cooperation between the university and the authority on the professional and scientific levels.
Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies, confirmed that the diploma is considered a model of success, as it witnessed a large demand from students and the success of graduates in assuming positions in major companies in the field of sensors, which indicates the seriousness of studying for the diploma.
The jury to discuss the projects included: Prof. Ayman Farid Abu Al-Hadid, former Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and full-time professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, at Ain Shams University, Prof. Abdel Masih Semaan Abdel Masih Youssef, Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, at Ain Shams University, Prof. Abdul Aziz Bilal, Head of the Agricultural Applications, Soil and Marine Sciences Division of the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, in coordination with Prof. Rasha Hamed Banduq, Diploma Coordinator from the University, Prof. Ghada Atta Youssef, Diploma Coordinator from the Authority.
In conclusion, the faculty staff, teaching diploma students and the top distinguished graduates were honored, in addition to presenting two research projects on Earth observation with the aim of evaluating carbon sequestration in mitigating the effects of climate change, and a project to establish a geographic information system for Egyptian courts.
