Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, announces that the Faculty of Archeology, headed by Prof. Hossam Tantawi, Dean of the Faculty, announced the start of studies with the Diploma in “Sustainability and Quality Management in Museums” with the credit hour system for the academic year 2024/2025, after Ministerial Resolution No. 1102 dated 6/11/2024 approving the program regulations.
The Dean of the Faculty stated that the Diploma Program “Sustainability and Quality Management in Museums” is the first academic program of its kind in Egyptian and Arab universities that combines the specializations of: (Museology, Public Institutions Management, Sustainability Sciences and Quality Management), as the design of the program was based on a group of newly introduced courses such as: Foundations of sustainability and its definitions, planning quality and the work environment, managing quality-related risks in museums according to international standards, strategic management of institutions and preparing business models, managing resources and finance in museums, managing change in museums, foundations of project management, Lean Six Sigma Improvement, program evaluation, quality management and accounting and customer service, the foundations of green museums and comprehensive development plans for museums, in addition to the basic courses of the Museum Management Department such as management of museum collections, the foundations of museum display and preparation of exhibitions, and the college’s courses in terms of Egyptian history from prehistoric times to the Islamic era and the history of art.
Prof. Ahmed Al-Shawki, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research; The study in the program is in English, and the program’s curricula are designed according to the references of the National Higher School of Administration at the University of Quebec in Canada, the National Institute of Management Sciences in France, the Museum Management Program at the University of Luster in England, and the Global Institute for Sustainability and Innovation at the University of Arizona in the United States.
Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Ali, Supervisor of the Department of Museums and Archaeological Sites Management; stated that students are required to be accepted into the program: to be a graduate of one of the following majors: archaeology, arts, humanities and social sciences, information technology, media, sciences, law, commerce, business administration, institutional management, and administrative sciences.
In addition to passing one of the approved English language tests: IELTS score 5, TOEFL IBT score 80, National Universities TOEFL score 450. To pass the program, students must pass 72 credit hours distributed over 4 levels.
