Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University, opened the activities of the UpSkill program in its second edition, which is held under the umbrella of the innovation and training sector at the university through the ASU Career Center, the Training and Development Center, and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, under the supervision of Prof. Nevin Assem, CEO of the sector, Dr. Weam Mahmoud, Executive Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, and Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the ASU Career Center.
The program aims to qualify 1,500 students and graduates of Ain Shams University and 100 of teaching assistants (lecturer and assistant lecturer) over a period of 3 months to become effective cadres in the labor market and provide them with career guidance to determine their sound career path in the labor market. The program also aims to qualify a number of students with design thinking techniques and entrepreneurship skills, develop the skills of members of the university’s teaching assistants, and qualify them to participate in providing support and guidance to university students in all activities of the innovation and training sector.
In her speech, Prof. Ghada Farouk emphasized that Ain Shams University attaches great importance to such initiatives and programs because of their role in improving the skills of students, graduates and faculty staff to keep pace with the needs of the contemporary labor market, and linking university graduates with various opportunities in the labor market.
She praised the effort made in designing the program to be an integrated model that includes all the basic elements of the system, including students, graduates, and a supporting body, and supports young people in all their future choices, whether in employment or entrepreneurship, within the framework of integration between all centers of the sector.
The Vice President of the University expressed her happiness with the development witnessed by the program over its previous version by activating the university’s vision towards the necessity of building partnerships and alliances in a way that contributes to maximizing benefit and results, by linking industry partners from different sectors to join the program as active partners to reap the fruits of this program, through learning activities through experience and various employment activities, and at the conclusion of her speech, she expressed her aspiration to achieve fruitful results, thanking the innovation sector with its three centers and all the program’s partners.
For her part, Prof. Nevin Assem expressed her happiness with the effective cooperation between the three centers to achieve the sector’s goals, including the presence of success partners to finance various events.
Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz explained that the program is in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 to qualify young people to assume leadership positions, in addition to bridging the gap between graduates and the labor market.
He gave an overview of the program, its various stages, the skills it provides, and the partners, pointing out that this year’s program is distinguished by the presence of a distinguished number of partners in the financing and training aspects.
After the opening, the attendees toured the training halls.
The opening was witnessed by Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector, Prof. Najwa Badr, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Prof. Sherweit El-Ahmady, Director of the International Students and Mobility Office, Prof. Reem Al-Kabariti, Director of the Alumni Association, Prof. Rana. Al-Hilali, Director of the Disability Support Service Center, and a group of faculty staff and students.
