Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University, and Supervisor of the Japanese Language Department, received Mrs. Suzuki Retsuko, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs and International Public Relations at the Secretariat of the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, and her deputy, Mrs. Yamagata Rikako, in the presence of Mr. Ito Toshifumi, Director of the Media and Culture Center, at the Japanese Embassy in Cairo, and Mrs. Hashimoto Ayumi, Director of the Japanese Culture Center in Cairo, affiliated with the Japan Foundation, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Rahman Ashiba, lecturer and supervisor of the educational process and the conduct of examinations in the department.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, provided a detailed introduction to Ain Shams University and its recent progress and achievements. Her Excellency also provided an introduction to the history of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, its departments, and the programs available within it, as well as international academic programs and cooperation and exchange agreements with a number of universities in various countries of the world.
The attendees exchanged views on various areas of cooperation between the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Japanese authorities, most notably the joint cooperation between the Faculty of Al-Alsun and the Japan Foundation, such as sending Japanese experts to teach the Japanese language in the Japanese Language Department, and holding the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) at the Faculty of Al-Alsun for the third year in a row in Next December, and other various academic and research support programs provided by the Japan Foundation to support researchers in the department.
In this context, Her Excellency the Dean extended her sincere thanks to the Japan Foundation in Cairo for the continued support for the Japanese Language Department and for the extended partnership with the Faculty of Al-Alsun. Her Excellency also thanked the Embassy of Japan for the interest and support it provides to the students and graduates of the Japanese Language Department through grants from the Japanese Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. (MEXT), which was obtained by a number of students, graduates, and members of the teaching assistants of the Japanese Language Department at the faculty since its inception.
Mrs. Suzuki expressed her great happiness with this visit, as it was her first visit to Egypt and to Ain Shams University, where she confirmed her intention to provide all forms of support and follow-up in a way that contributes to consolidating cooperative relations with Ain Shams University in the future.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Salwa Rashad accompanied the Japanese delegation on an inspection tour of the accredited program halls, the headquarters of the Korean Si Jong Institute, and the new headquarters of the Chinese Confucius Institute at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, where they expressed their great admiration for the distinguished and advanced infrastructure they saw.
