ARATHON 1 Competition Awards Ceremony for Graduation Projects of the Faculty of Arts Students for the Academic Year 2023-2024

The Student Union of the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University (SUFA) organized the awards ceremony for the first edition of the ARATHON competition, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty, and under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs. The idea of ​​the competition, which was implemented for the first time, is based on an attempt to crystallize the knowledge, skills and values ​​that students have acquired throughout their years of study and transform them into applicable projects that can be implemented, thus maximizing the social and economic return of learning outcomes. The competition also reflects the cognitive momentum enjoyed by the Faculty of Arts through its various specializations.

During the ceremony, Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, expressed her thanks and appreciation to the jury for the effort made in evaluating the projects, and praised the high level and excellence of the winning projects. She recommended the necessity of cooperating with the innovation and entrepreneurship sector at the university to adopt these projects, and to seek to involve stakeholders from businessmen, companies, factories, bodies, ministries and civil society organizations to discuss ways to benefit from these projects.

   
   

For his part, Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, the Faculty's Vice Dean for Education and Students, expressed his great happiness with the success of the competition in this way, and that this success came as a result of the vision of the Faculty's administration, which seeks to adopt all innovative and creative ideas of male and female students and transform them into projects that serve society and the environment and help in sustainable development in light of Egypt's Vision 2030.

The Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs appreciated the efforts of the Faculty of Arts Students Union in organizing the competition and guiding male and female students to invest their energies and achieve the integration of their personalities, stressing the continuity of this competition to become an event that the sector is keen to organize annually.

21 graduation projects from various departments of the faculty participated in the competition, all of which were subject to arbitration by a specialized committee, with the aim of determining the first three places in light of a standard evaluation list.

   
   

The Geography and Geographic Information Systems Department came in first place, sharing the award for two projects: Geohydromorphometric Analysis and Modeling of Floods and Their Hazards in Aswan City Using Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, and the Geomatics Digital Technology Program Project entitled Smart Management of Infrastructure Networks North of Rehab City.

The Communication and Media Sciences Department came in second place, with two projects sharing the award, one from the Radio and Television Division - Sahwa Project, and the other from the Public Relations and Advertising Division - CLICK Media Campaign Project.

While the Libraries and Information Department came in third place with its Ajyal Automated Library Management System project.

After presenting the winning projects, the jury commented and highlighted the aspects of innovation and creativity that qualified them to win and the areas of benefit from them at the development level.
