Within the framework of Ain Shams University's support for distinguished students with disabilities, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, witnessed the launch of the "Ain Shams Innovates with Difference" camp, which is organized by the Innovation and Training Sector in cooperation with the Education and Student Affairs Sector at the University, which offers a distinctive program that lasts for two full months, supported by a team of trusted experts to support students with disabilities.
In the presence of Prof. Mohamed El-Sayed El-Shennawy, Acting President of Galala University, Prof. Ehab Hassanein, Vice President of Galala University, Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Collaboration Sector, Prof. Sherweit El-Ahmady, Director of the International Students Department, Prof. Rana El-Hilali, Director of the Center for Service to Students with Disabilities, and a group of deans and vice deans of Ain Shams University faculties.
In his speech, the university president explained that in light of the new vision of Ain Shams University, there is increasing interest in students with disabilities. The university is also keen to integrate them effectively into various activities. It was one of the first universities to establish a center to serve students with disabilities and implement distinguished programs to train them in all fields, in addition to qualifying them to participate in all university activities such as the employment forum and Ain Shams Innovates competitions, etc., in addition to creating a special track for them in the competition to present their ideas and projects. Today, we are witnessing the launch of the “Ain Shams Innovates Differently” camp in a step that is the first of its kind in Egyptian universities to support our students with disabilities. His Excellency also stressed that the university is a place to receive knowledge and also to form the student’s personality.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Sayed El-Shennawy, Acting President of Galala University, thanked Ain Shams University for the kind invitation, appreciating Ain Shams University's adoption of this pioneering idea in cooperation with Galala University, which had previously presented the "We Complete Each Other" initiative, which contributed to shaping the personality of students with disabilities and developing their skills.
Prof. Neven Assem expressed her happiness and thanked all those who contributed today to the launch of this camp from Ain Shams University students. She also thanked the partners of success, headed by Dr. Ahmed Hano, Minister of Culture, and thanked Galala University, the National Council for Disability, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, and the National Bank of Egypt.
Dr. Mina Michel, Lecturer of Architecture at Galala University, thanked Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abedeen, Prof. Mohamed El-Shennawy, and Prof. Neven Assem, appreciating the idea of the camp, which is an opportunity to combine art and creativity despite the challenges facing people with disabilities.
The camp is supervised by Prof. Neven Assem, CEO of the Innovation and Training Sector, and in coordination with Mr. Ibrahim Saeed Hamza, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for Education and Student Affairs.
The camp, which lasts for two months, includes distinguished awareness seminars that include: Self-awareness and how to gain a deeper understanding of oneself, develop confidence and emotional intelligence, and enhance the ability to understand and manage your feelings and the feelings of others, effective communication and develop communication skills effectively and clearly, Public speaking: mastering the art of public speaking and influencing the audience, team building and leadership, and learning how to work within a team and lead it successfully - Problem solving and critical thinking: improving the ability to analyze problems and find innovative solutions, Presentation skills: presenting ideas and projects in a professional manner, in addition to marketing skills and financial education.
This is through practical activities that include teaching pottery: how to shape pottery and use it at the beginning of projects and create creative shapes, clothing printing: learning printing techniques on fabrics, music: learning to play and sing, sports: practicing different types of sports activities, handicrafts: how to be creative in making handicrafts, sculpting and drawing.
