Within the framework of celebrating the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and China and emphasizing the enhancement of bilateral cooperation in the field of science and technology, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University, received a high-level delegation from the National Natural Science Foundation of China headed by Professor Khan Yu, Vice President of the Foundation, to discuss the future of cooperation in joint research between faculty members and researchers in the field of natural sciences at Ain Shams University and their counterparts in Chinese universities, within the framework of the keenness of the two friendly countries, Egypt and China, to strengthen scientific cooperation and joint research relations between researchers and specialists in universities and research centers in the two countries in a way that benefits society and achieves economic and social development.
During the meeting, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University, welcomed the visiting delegation, stressing Ain Shams University's aspiration to expand cooperation between the two universities in the fields of water and soil sciences, life sciences, and new and renewable energy sciences, stressing Ain Shams University's desire to establish research centers between the two sides at Ain Shams University and provide these centers with specialized laboratories for researchers similar to the Luban Workshop model and the Confucius Institute at Ain Shams University in cooperation with Chinese universities. For his part, Prof. Ahmed Al-Sabbagh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for Technical Education and Training, welcomed the delegation, referring to the visit and successful meetings that the delegation had with the Ministry and the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, stressing Ain Shams University's desire to implement joint research and open the way for researchers from Ain Shams University to obtain master's and doctoral degrees under joint supervision and to send researchers on scholarships to obtain scientific degrees from Chinese universities. The head of the visiting delegation introduced the Foundation and its role in funding joint research between researchers in Chinese universities and their counterparts from universities in various countries of the world through the relevant authorities in the Ministry of Higher Education and the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, welcoming the increase in joint scientific research in the fields of water and soil sciences, renewable energy, agriculture and other natural sciences to achieve the aspirations of the two countries.
Following the meeting, Prof. Nasser Abdel Aal, Director of the Confucius Institute, accompanied the visiting delegation to visit the Confucius Institute.
The meeting was attended from the Chinese side by Professor Zhang Yongtao, CEO of the International Relations Sector at the Foundation, Ms. Zhou Wei Tong, Chairman of the Party Committee at the Foundation, and Ms. Li Wenchong, Vice President of the International Relations Sector for Asian and African Affairs, and from the Egyptian side by Prof. Dr. Sherwit Al-Ahmadi, Director of the Department of Visitors and Visiting Professors.
