Within the framework of Ain Shams University's new vision to support and care for students with disabilities, and within the efforts of the University's Student Service Center for Disabilities to raise awareness and provide support to families with students with disabilities, especially students with mental disabilities, the center organizes awareness sessions for families of students with disabilities in cooperation with the Psychological Support Unit, under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, and the supervision of Prof. Rana El-Hilali, Director of the Student Service Center for Disabilities, and the administrative coordination of Mr. Ibrahim Saeed Hamza, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for Education and Students Sector.
The sessions aim to provide families with the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with the challenges their children face during the university stage. The sessions continue over three days, September 17, 24 and October 1, at the Republic Building in the university city.
The sessions include various topics presented by a group of experts; on the first day, Prof. Hesham Rami will lecture on how to deal with adolescents who suffer from emotional and behavioral disorders, and meet the educational needs of these students at the university.
On the second day, Prof. Mona El Sheikh will review how to deal with university students who suffer from autism spectrum disorders and their special educational needs.
On the third and final day, Prof. Nermen Shaker will discuss how to deal with adolescents who suffer from mental disabilities and slow learning, and meet their educational needs at the university.
These sessions come within the university's comprehensive strategy to support students with disabilities and their families, and confirm Ain Shams University's commitment to providing a supportive and integrated educational environment.
