Within the framework of enhancing the economic competitiveness of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and in line with national efforts to support innovation and scientific research, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, received a team of experts from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The visit comes within the activities of the Egyptian program in cooperation with the organization, and within the context of the "Review of National Innovation Policies" project, which aims to support national entities in stimulating innovation as a driver for achieving growth and sustainable development, enhancing the role of innovation in achieving national goals, identifying obstacles to innovation in Egypt, improving the design and implementation of innovation stimulation tools, and enhancing governance mechanisms for innovation fields.
The field visit focused on reviewing the university's efforts in supporting innovation and scientific research and evaluating the data provided, which will be included in the "Review of Innovation Policies" report, which is one of the main global references in assessing the status of innovation in various economies.
During the meeting, Prof. Ghada Farouk stressed that Ain Shams University is working hard to enhance innovation and cooperation with industry, through a strategy based on partnerships, cooperation and innovation, through which it seeks to achieve tangible returns for the university and society, stressing the university administration's interest in continuously evaluating its innovation plan by following up on the academic, economic and social returns it achieves.
The participants in the meeting from Ain Shams University presented several presentations to introduce the university and its efforts in supporting innovation and scientific research.
The organization's expert delegation included: Alina Biak (France), Kelje Park, Young Sook Yang, Hyunkyung Yin (South Korea), Andrea Rosalinda Hofer (Germany), Mario Seravantes (USA).
It is worth noting that the visit of the team of experts to Egypt from September 8-12, 2024 comes as a continuation of their previous visit that took place in March 2024 within the framework of cooperation with the Innovators Support Fund.
