The launching of the activities of the Education and Student Affairs Sector initiative to raise awareness among parents of people with special needs and train supervisors, psychologists and social workers in university dormitories

Within the framework of the university's new vision that aims to support the knights of will and enhance interest in students with special needs and healthy students alike, and coinciding with the reception of the academic year 2024/2025, the initiative of the Education and Student Affairs Sector was launched today under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, which organizes a series of awareness campaigns directed at parents of students with special needs on how to deal with their children to confront all psychological behaviors during the university phase through the Student Disability Service Center and in cooperation with the Psychological and Moral Support Committee.

Prof. Rana Al-Hilali, Director of the Student Disability Service Center, welcomed the parents of the students, stressing Ain Shams University's continued commitment to supporting the Knights of Will with special needs and their families, noting that organizing awareness sessions for the families of students with various disabilities in cooperation with the Psychological Support Unit is a pioneering step within the efforts of Ain Shams University and the Student Disability Service Center to raise awareness and provide the necessary support to students. This support is an integral part of the university's strategy. She pointed out that the goal of these sessions is not only to provide information, but to build a bridge of effective communication between families and the university to ensure the success of students and enable them to achieve their full potential.

         
   
         

She also appreciated the support provided by the University President to the Student Disability Service Center through the Education and Students Sector, which organized this important event through which we can create a more inclusive and understanding university environment.

Prof. Hesham Rami, Professor of Psychiatry and Head of the Psychological and Moral Support Committee in the Education and Students Sector, listened to the parents of students with special needs and discussed in his response to their questions how to deal properly with students and their reactions, stressing that the transition from pre-university education to university education has an impact on the behavior of normal students as well, not just students with special needs, and that parents must understand these changes and deal with them with understanding and knowledge, and this is what awareness campaigns will provide.

Dr. Doaa Mahmoud, lecturer at the Department of Special Education, Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, pointed out the most important educational needs of university students with special needs, the emotional and behavioral problems they face, and how parents can accommodate their children and accommodate their abilities. She also discussed the requirements for implementing integration, from preparing the administrative structure to receiving students in the university’s various faculties. The sessions, which will last for three weeks, will cover a variety of comprehensive topics, including how to deal with emotional and behavioral disorders, providing educational support for students with autism spectrum disorders, and how to deal with students who suffer from mental disabilities and slow learning.

In addition to organizing training courses dedicated to supervisors, psychologists and specialists of the Social Research Unit in the University Cities Sector.

The activities will be held in the hall of the Republic Building in the University Dormitory for Students, under the general supervision and administrative coordination of Mr. Ibrahim Saeed Hamza, Assistant Secretary of the University for the Education and Students Sector, and the technical preparation and implementation of Prof. Rana Al-Hilali, Director of the Student Disability Service Center, and Prof. Hesham Rami, Head of the Psychological and Moral Support Committee in the Student Education Sector.
