In the context of Ain Shams University's leadership in scientific research and meeting international competition requirements, and in honor of the scientific research legacy that distinguishes the university's scholars throughout its long history, Ain Shams University ranked second among Egyptian universities with 62 of its professors included among the world's top scientists. This is according to a report issued by Stanford University for 2024, listing the names of the top 2% of the world's most cited scientists, highlighting their achievements across various disciplines.
This represents an increase of 14 scientists compared to last year, further emphasizing the university's continued excellence and leadership in the field of scientific research.
Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and the Awards Office extend their congratulations to the esteemed scientists who contribute to enhancing the university's standing with this clear distinction and inclusion in this important international list.
The report featured representation from eight faculties of the university, including the faculties of Pharmacy, Education, Science, Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, Computers and Information, and Girls' College. Leading the Stanford list from the university's faculties this year were the faculties of Pharmacy and Education, each with 17 scientists.
This achievement demonstrates Ain Shams University's commitment to promoting scientific research and providing a conducive environment for innovation. It also highlights the impact of the university's scholars on both academic and societal levels.
It is worth noting that Stanford University relies on the Scopus database, published by Elsevier, to extract various indicators for the list. These indicators include the number of citations of published research by other authors (H-index), the HM index for co-authorship, citations for research papers across different authorship topics, and a composite score (C-Score).
These accomplishments reaffirm Ain Shams University's commitment to academic and research excellence, highlighting its active role in advancing knowledge and reflecting the efforts of these scientists in contributing to societal development and achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development.
