The Faculty of Medicine celebrated World Alzheimer's Day, coinciding with the World Alzheimer's Awareness Month.
Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Ali El-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hospitals, Prof. Hala Samir Sweid, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Manar Mustafa Adel Mamoun, Head of the Department of Geriatric Medicine and Health and Age Sciences.
The celebration included several awareness lectures for the community and medical service providers, where Prof. Ghada Mohamed Murad, Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatric Nursing and Mental Health at Ain Shams University and Secretary General of the Alzheimer's Association Egypt, gave a lecture on the activities and services of the Alzheimer's Association Egypt, and spoke about the history of the establishment of the association and its role in raising community awareness.
Prof. Mohamed Shawky Khater, Professor of Geriatric Medicine and Health and Age Sciences, also gave an interactive lecture entitled: Protect Yourself from Alzheimer’s Disease, in which he highlighted the importance of healthy living and effective communication to protect against memory problems.
Then, Prof. Asst. Dr. Heba Gamal Saber, Assistant Professor at the Department of Geriatric Medicine and Health and Age Sciences, gave a lecture entitled: Alzheimer's is not just forgetfulness... psychological and behavioral changes, in which she talked about the psychological symptoms and behavioral changes that accompany Alzheimer's disease and how to deal with them.
This celebration comes within the framework of the efforts of the Faculty of Medicine, at Ain Shams University, to enhance community awareness about Alzheimer's disease.
