Prof. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities, on behalf of Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Omar El-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, witnessed the graduation ceremony of the 2024 batch, in the presence of the faculty’s vice deans, faculty staff, and students’ families.
Prof. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities, explained that this ceremony does not only represent the end of an academic journey, but rather the beginning of a bright future, God willing, a future full of opportunities and great responsibilities, as the students have gone through a long journey full of challenges and successes, and acquired the skills and knowledge that qualify them to be leaders in their fields; pointing out that the international specialized and environmental programs were not just traditional educational curricula, but rather platforms for creative and critical thinking, for innovation and excellence, and for learning how to face challenges in a modern and integrated scientific manner.
Explaining that the age we live in today is the age of knowledge and technology, which requires you to keep up with rapid and successive developments, as what you received in classrooms and laboratories is the foundation that will help them adapt to the changes of the age, and these international programs is that they place the graduate among the ranks of global graduates, thanks to what they have acquired from a broad international perspective through academic partnerships with prestigious educational institutions around the world.
He stressed that the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University did not only provide academic education, but also sought to instill the values of creativity and social responsibility in the souls of its students. Through these specialized and interdisciplinary programs, they can be leaders in solving the major problems facing our society today, whether in the field of energy, technology, environment, or sustainable development.
In his speech, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, thanked the parents of the students who faced difficulties in order to reach this moment. He also thanked and appreciated the distinguished faculty staff who did their best to transfer their knowledge and experience to our students, in addition to their prominent role in all national projects in various parts of the country. He stressed that the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, which is one of the oldest faculties of the university, is distinguished by its constant and continuous keenness to upgrade its infrastructure and information, and the continuous modernization and development of its curricula and study programs, many of which have been accredited by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation, and some of which have been accredited internationally. In addition, it was a pioneer in concluding many international partnerships in the field of research, projects, student exchange and centers of excellence, and its constant endeavor to improve its international classification.
His Excellency also congratulated the students of various specializations on their graduation, which is the culmination of their efforts throughout their years of study, wishing them success in achieving their aspirations and working to invest the knowledge and sciences they have acquired to achieve a qualitative addition to the labor market in various engineering specializations and fields in order to achieve their ambitions and aspirations. His Excellency also stressed that the future is not easy, but rather it is necessary to continue receiving knowledge, scientific research and developing oneself continuously according to the development of technology.
Calling on students to be ambassadors for the university through their participation in all development projects inside and outside Egypt, and to communicate with their college to support them with all its experience and capabilities in various fields of engineering sciences.
Prof. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty, pointed out that the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University was established 185 years ago, during which it was distinguished by its values, principles and traditions that are passed down from generation to generation. He pointed out that a large number of the faculty’s graduates have held many positions in the state, whether governmental or in the private sector, as the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University is one of the best engineering faculties in the Arab region and Africa according to international classifications.
Adding that the faculty is also distinguished by working on developing the educational process and scientific research, as well as international activities and competitions that refine the personality of the college student. His Excellency also congratulated the families of the students, thanking faculty staff and teaching assistants who helped the students to reach this phase.
The celebration witnessed many artistic and entertainment shows.
