Ain Shams University President witnesses the flag raising and salute during the 2024-2025 academic year reception festival

This morning, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, witnessed the flag-raising and saluting ceremony during the first day of the new academic year 2024-2025, in the presence of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and a group of deans and vice deans of faculties.

In his speech, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, congratulated the faculty staff, teaching assistants, administrators, new and old students on the beginning of a new academic year full of challenges and opportunities, as Ain Shams University seeks to provide distinguished education in all faculties of the university, in addition to distinguished programs in more than one faculty, including the faculties of the medical and engineering sector, the faculties of Computers and Information Sciences , Agriculture, Business, Education, Al-Alsun, Arts, Girls, Law, Sciences and Archaeology, which contributes to preparing students for a promising future that contributes to building a university community characterized by diversity and positive interaction.

         
   
         

His Excellency stressed the university’s interest in beginning a new journey of challenges and achievements, providing students with all the opportunities that qualify them for the labor market through the university’s new centers such as the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, the ASU Career Center, and other support centers that contribute to building the university’s personality, in addition to the distinguished activities provided by the education and student sector, through which students have achieved advanced positions locally and globally.

The President of Ain Shams University added that the university leadership believes in the balance between science and education and student activities in building a strong and prosperous society, in addition to the full support for students with Special Needs and facilitating them through the university’s initiatives and various activities through which special paths are opened to integrate students with special needs. His Excellency concluded his speech by wishing everyone an academic year full of achievements, successes and excellence.

The university year reception festival was organized and coordinated by the Education and Students Sector and the Students for Egypt family at Ain Shams University in cooperation with the university students union and all its committees: social, cultural, artistic, scouting, families, scientific, sports, and the Central Social Solidarity Fund.

The Department of Families and Student Unions introduced the students to the student activities carried out by the University Students Union and Students for Egypt and how to participate in them. The University President also attended the university’s choral and music selection ceremony, which was held as part of the Reception Festival activities. He also toured the Plastic Arts Exhibition, which included a workshop to teach students drawing and sculpture.

         
   
         

The Scientific and Technological Activity Department also organized a scientific exhibition in cooperation and coordination with (I Hub) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center to display innovative student works made and created by students of Ain Shams University faculties, which won advanced positions and awards at the summit level. The exhibition included (some innovative devices – some of the small industries produced by university students – some educational electrical games – training workshops for small industries under the slogan (Make it yourself).

In addition to organizing competitions in the main campus in sports, electronic and recreational games throughout the reception period, coordinated by the Sports Activities Department and holding events for games suitable for students with special needs.

The Scouts and Public Service Department held various educational art workshops for all university students, including wooden medals, string art pieces, crochet bags, embroidery art pieces, macrame art pieces, satin rope charms, and beads.

An art exhibition produced by the Scouts Committee was also held, which included a recycling workshop to benefit from waste, in addition to providing evening entertainment and scouting games, holding competitions for Rovers activities, and training students with disabilities in handicrafts and designing the October Victories mural.

The Cultural Activity Department held a free book fair and distributed cultural, religious, sports and artistic books to students. It also held a cultural competition for students (Q-J) in the fields of cultural activity. The Social Activity and Trips Department also held a general information competition for students (Q-J) in the fields of social activity.

         
   
         

The Central Social Solidarity Fund introduced the students to the services provided by the Central Social Solidarity Fund to our students and all the papers required to provide each service.

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, also inspected the wing of the Student Disability Services Center, which provides a number of services to students with special needs. The administrative procedures and mechanisms that must be followed to obtain services for students with special needs within the university were also explained, with the distribution of a number of flyers about these services and their procedures, which would facilitate students with special needs from the university’s children to obtain their rights and services within the university, which contributes to their rapid integration into the university community.

He also visited the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector pavilion, where he reviewed the definition of the environmental sector and its role in developing the surrounding environment, as well as the services provided by the sector to the university’s students in cooperation with the education and student sector, related to developing the surrounding environment, especially in remote areas (awareness campaigns – medical convoys) and how students participate in these campaigns and the aspects of students’ benefit from them.

During his tour, the President of Ain Shams University inspected the Alumni Association pavilion at the university, through which the association presents its definition and importance in the life of the university student after graduation, all the services provided, the mechanisms of subscription, and how to obtain its cards.

A pavilion has been allocated for the General Administration of Medical Affairs and the launch of the “Your Health is Your Balance” campaign to measure blood pressure, sugar, weight, height, blood type and vision for free for students during the reception days, as well as introducing the Medical Affairs Department and the medical services provided by the university to its students and the mechanisms for obtaining medical services provided by the General Administration of Medical Affairs to the university students (examination and medical tests – dispensing medications) in addition to the Masr Shoryaan El-Attaa Association.

A special pavilion has also been allocated for the Women Support and Anti-Violence Unit, through which the unit will showcase the services it provides to students and the awareness programs it provides to university students, in addition to holding a number of competitions on women’s issues (drawing – poetry – short story).
