The event was attended by Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Prof. Osama Mansour, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Hala Sweid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Hatem El-Gamal, Chairman of the Conference and Head of the IVF and ICSI Unit at Ain Shams University, Prof. Amr El-Husseiny, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals, Prof. Rahab Abdel Rahman, Director of the Women's Hospital at the University, in addition to a group of faculty staff from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a number of specialists.
In his speech, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, stressed that the continuation of the conference in its 27th edition is an embodiment of Ain Shams University's firm commitment to developing medical education and enhancing scientific cooperation between doctors and experts in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. Ain Shams University is proud of its leading position among academic and medical institutions that effectively contribute to improving the health of Egyptian society. He added that Ain Shams University places at the top of its priorities the implementation of the Egyptian state's directives aimed at developing the medical sector, through cooperation with all national institutions to improve the quality of health care for the Egyptian citizen.
Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen explained that the conference is not only an academic forum, but it is also an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between doctors and specialists from different countries of the world, which contributes to the exchange of experiences and the development of health care in this vital field, as this distinguished scientific event brings together an elite group of experts and specialists from different parts of the world to find innovative solutions to the challenges facing women’s health.
He concluded his speech by expressing his hope that the conference would be a fruitful opportunity to exchange experiences and scientific research, which would contribute to enhancing medical progress in this field.
For his part, Professor Osama Abdel-Hay, Head of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate, praised the conference for providing 64 accredited hours, which is the highest number among conferences, stressing that the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University continues its leadership in the medical field.
The Head of the Medical Syndicate also explained that the Syndicate will remain committed to providing education and training opportunities for all doctors in Egypt, in addition to creating an appropriate work environment, extending his greetings to Ain Shams University for its continuous support for doctors.
In his speech, Prof. Ali Al-Anwar thanked the conference organizers and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for its pioneering role in the field of education, training, development and scientific research, stressing the role of such conferences in supporting young doctors. Prof. Amr Al-Husseini, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, explained that this leading conference in Egypt and the Middle East for obstetrics and gynecology will continue over two days, October 2 and 3, 2024, with the participation of 20 international experts from all over the world to cover all relevant subspecialties.
In his speech, Prof. Hatem El Gamal stressed that the conference is one of the most prominent accredited continuing medical education events in the region, offering 64 accredited hours in addition to 14 world-class workshops held prior to the conference, supervised by accredited members of the international community. Each workshop is an interactive educational experience that enables participants to acquire practical skills and in-depth knowledge of the latest developments in the field.
At the end of the opening session, Prof. Hatem El Gamal honored five “International Ambassadors”, who are distinguished elite of obstetricians and gynecologists from all over the world. These ambassadors will work to enhance the position of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ain Shams University, in addition to supporting the ASOGIC International Conference on the global stage.
They are:
- Prof. Liselotte Mettler, guest of honor and global ambassador of ASOGIC, who was the second gynecologist and the first woman to perform laparoscopy in Germany and Europe, and is a true pioneer in minimally invasive surgery.
- Dr. Burghard Abendstein, ASOGIC Ambassador for Austria and Switzerland.
- Dr. Hap Jacques Koczeszewski, ASOGIC Ambassador for Germany and Eastern Europe.
- Prof. René Wenzel, ASOGIC Ambassador for Austria and Western Europe.
- Prof. Kihara Ann Beatrice, President of the International Federation of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and ASOGIC Ambassador for Africa.
