The Welcome Ceremony Activities for New Students at the Faculty of Mass Communication for the 2024-2025 Academic Year

As part of its commitment to fostering communication and interaction with its students, the Faculty of Mass Communication at Ain Shams University organized an orientation day for new students for the 2024/2025 academic year. The event, held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, was aimed at welcoming the new students and introducing them to the faculty.

         
   
         

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Heba Shaheen, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Salwa Suleiman, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs.

In her speech, Prof. Heba Shaheen warmly welcomed the new students and provided an overview of the Faculty of Mass Communication, which originated as the Communication Sciences Department within the Faculty of Arts. She highlighted that the faculty combines modernity in its programs with the legacy of its roots from the Department of Communication Sciences and prides itself on its distinguished faculty members.

She emphasized that Ain Shams University, as one of the oldest and internationally ranked universities, offers a promising future for its students. She expressed her pride in being part of this educational institution and added that since its establishment as a media department and later as a specialized faculty, the Faculty of Mass Communication has worked diligently to graduate competent and experienced students, preparing them for the job market and placing them on par with graduates of global universities.

Prof. Shaheen also mentioned that the faculty receives continuous support from the university administration, which helps in achieving the highest standards of quality. She encouraged students to enjoy their studies, strive for excellence, build their personalities, and contribute to raising the status of the faculty and the university.

She further noted that the Faculty of Mass Communication is committed to promoting the concepts of quality, creativity, and innovation, aiming to graduate distinguished students equipped with all available learning tools. The faculty also provides exceptional professional training to its students, connecting them with the job market in a unique way. Prof. Shaheen affirmed the faculty’s goal of preparing a generation of media professionals capable of meeting future challenges and producing purposeful and responsible media content.

She concluded her speech by encouraging students to work hard and excel both academically and practically, assuring them of her full support under the umbrella of the prestigious Ain Shams University and within the comprehensive environment of knowledge, culture, arts, and activities provided by the Faculty of Media.

         
   
         

Prof. Salwa Suleiman expressed her delight at the start of the new academic year and welcomed the new students who chose to join the Faculty of Mass Communication at Ain Shams University. She emphasized that the faculty prioritizes creating a comprehensive educational environment that offers students outstanding learning and development opportunities.

She pointed out that the faculty continuously works to update its curriculum to meet the demands of both local and international job markets, with a focus on enhancing students' academic and practical skills. Prof. Suleiman also stressed the importance of taking advantage of the resources available in the faculty, whether through lectures, practical workshops, or participation in student activities that contribute to building a well-rounded personality.

She underscored the importance of seriousness and dedication in studies, as academic excellence is the key to opening up broad professional opportunities in the field of media. She noted the high level of professionalism achieved by the faculty’s students and their exceptional ability to produce distinguished media content by utilizing the available resources.

The welcoming activities included introducing students to the faculty’s departments, available academic programs, and the regulations that must be followed to achieve success and excellence. The event also featured a series of diverse activities, including poetry recitals, a promotional video about the faculty, screenings of student productions from previous years, stand-up comedy performances, and informational sessions presented by the faculty administration and faculty members on the various academic specializations. Additionally, there was a presentation about student activities and the importance of participating in them to help develop students' personal skills.

The event was attended by a number of department heads, faculty staff, and student affairs representatives from the faculty.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Prof. Heba Shaheen and Prof. Salwa Suleiman honored the faculty staff who organized the event, as well as the students who participated in the ceremony and various activities throughout the past year, in appreciation of their efforts.
