Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Supreme Council for Education and Student Affairs, and within the framework of Ain Shams University's new vision, led by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, which prioritizes the care of all students, especially those with special needs, to promote the concept of inclusivity and integration among all members of the university community, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has launched a comprehensive campaign to raise awareness of the rights of people with disabilities, in cooperation with the global HOPE GIVER campaign.
The campaign aims to raise awareness among all sectors of the university community, including students, faculty, and staff, about the rights of people with disabilities and the importance of their inclusion in academic and social activities.
In this context, Ain Shams University is organizing a series of events over the course of a full week, focusing on the central idea of integrating people of determination with their able-bodied peers in a unified environment. The events will present innovative and non-traditional ideas to enhance the participation of both groups in various activities, helping to break down psychological and social barriers they may face. This approach is part of Ain Shams University's vision to create an inclusive educational environment that supports diversity and fosters a sense of unity among all members of the university community.
In this regard, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, emphasized that the integration of people with disabilities into the university environment not only contributes to the development of their skills and abilities but also promotes values of cooperation and mutual respect. Through this campaign, we hope to contribute to building a university community that values diversity and celebrates individual differences, leading to a more inclusive and friendly educational environment for all, in line with Ain Shams University's new vision in supporting students, especially those determined to succeed.
He added that promoting the concept of inclusivity requires collective effort and cooperation between able-bodied individuals and people with disabilities, as each person is an integral part of the university community.
The week-long event, starting next Monday, is organized, supervised, and implemented by the Education and Student Affairs Sector in cooperation with the Center for Students with Disabilities. It includes a variety of activities involving both students with special needs and able-bodied students alike. These activities include a sign language choir and a choir of determined students performing alongside Ain Shams University’s choir, as well as several awareness campaigns presented by the Basera Foundation and the Al-Hassan Foundation for the integration of students with and without disabilities. Additionally, there will be an art exhibition by the students and a sports day that brings all students together.
