As part of the presidential initiative "A New Beginning for Human Development," the Faculty of Mass Communication at Ain Shams University hosted Hawaa magazine's awareness campaign on the initiative to educate students about its objectives, how to benefit from it, and ways to volunteer. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Heba Shaheen, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, and Prof. Salwa Suleiman, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs.
Prof. Heba Shaheen opened the seminar by welcoming the attendees and expressing her pleasure in hosting the first event of the "Beginning" initiative, organized by Hawaa magazine, one of the publications of Dar Al-Helal Foundation, in recognition of the value of such prestigious national press institutions.
She pointed out that this seminar comes as part of strengthening communication between academic and professional media institutions. She emphasized the importance of building the student's character, noting that education is not limited to academic learning but extends to developing students' artistic, cultural, and social skills.
The seminar also discussed the role of the "Beginning" initiative in empowering youth and preparing them for the future, describing it as a real opportunity to develop skills and open new horizons for creative individuals and entrepreneurs.
Prof. Shaheen encouraged students to seize this opportunity, as it represents a significant step toward developing their personal and professional skills and enhancing their future roles in society.
Journalist and Editor-in-Chief of Hawaa magazine, Mrs. Samar El-Desouki, highlighted the importance of presidential initiatives and their role in supporting society. She emphasized Hawaa magazine’s focus on various social initiatives and the need for journalists to be creators of events and trusted sources of information, providing content that serves society as a whole. She advised students to focus on preparing reports and media coverage while continuously practicing journalism to gain practical skills.
Mrs. El-Desouki also discussed ways to volunteer in different presidential initiatives, emphasizing the importance of students' involvement in society and the need for good planning to play effective roles within it.
She highlighted the significance of volunteering as a means of gaining experience, building character, and preparing youth for the future through programs such as the "Decent Life" initiative and the "Takaful and Karama" program.
She praised the "Beginning" initiative, which encompasses various political and social initiatives, offering training courses for young people to prepare them for the job market and opening new opportunities for success in their professional lives.
The seminar featured prominent participants, including journalists, members of parliament, media professionals, academics, and human development experts such as Mrs. Samar El-Desouki, Dr. Hanan Suleiman, a member of the Senate, Dr. Shaimaa Ismail, a human development expert, Dr. Iman Hashad, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Early Childhood Education at Sadat City University, and Mrs. Abir El-Ghazi, a member of the Egyptian Federation of Trade Unions and Chairwoman of the Women's Committee at the Postal Service.
The seminar highlighted the importance of character development and professional skill enhancement to increase the competitiveness of young people. It also discussed the need for comprehensive training programs covering various fields to enhance knowledge and promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
The discussion stressed the need for Egyptian media to highlight success stories of entrepreneurs, which would help raise awareness of the initiative's goals and benefits. Media students were recognized as essential contributors to these efforts through their involvement in producing reports and media coverage that showcase the initiative's impact on achieving sustainable development in Egypt.
The floor was then opened for students' questions, and at the conclusion of the seminar, Prof. Heba Shaheen honored the distinguished guests in appreciation of their efforts and valuable participation.
