The Education and Student Affairs Sector at the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University, organized the annual conference of the Department of Psychology, under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, the University President, and Prof. Hanan Kamel, the Dean of the Faculty, and supervised by Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim, the Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs.
The conference witnessed the participation of Prof. Fathy El Sharkawy, the Acting Head of the Psychology Department and Conference Chair, with Prof. Mohamed Khalil, Prof. Hamad Khairy, and Prof. Rizk Sand, in addition to a group of department professors, students, and alumni.
In his welcoming speech, Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim highlighted that all departments within the faculty work as a unified team, stressing that each department strives to contribute to societal progress both within and outside the university. He also commended the efforts of the faculty members and supporting staff in the Psychology Department.
Prof. Fathy El Sharkawy expressed his appreciation to the organizers and participants, affirming that the Faculty of Arts takes pride in its excellence in scientific activity through organizing conferences that shed light on various issues. He noted that these conferences contribute to reviving the pioneering role of philosophy and psychology and engaging with real-life issues, which aids in developing various life aspects within our communities. He hoped that the conference discussions would provide valuable intellectual contributions to improve daily life.
He also provided students with a detailed overview of the nature of study in the department, introducing them to the faculty staff, teaching assistants, and administrative personnel.
Dr. Eman Emad El Din Abdel Wahed, the academic program coordinator in the department, presented a report on the Bachelor's Program in Psychology under the credit hour system for the academic year 2023/2024, outlining the program's success indicators.
During the conference, the official logo for the Department of Psychology was launched, and proposals for development and improvement submitted by students and faculty staff were discussed.
At the end of the opening session, Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim honored Prof. Fathy El Sharkawy, the department head, along with several faculty members and supporting staff who actively contributed to quality initiatives. Outstanding students and those who participated in extracurricular activities were also recognized.
