Ain Shams University Disability Integration Week concludes its activities with a sports day

Within the framework of Ain Shams University's new vision and under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abedeen, President of the University, the activities of the Disability Integration Week at Ain Shams University concluded today with a sports day in which many students with special needs and normal students participated.

Ain Shams University, through the Education and Students Sector, in cooperation with the Disabled Students Service Center and the Students for Egypt family, organized a group of activities that lasted for a whole week, to focus on a basic idea, which is to integrate people with disabilities and normal people together and provide activities that bring them together and present innovative and unconventional ideas that enhance the participation of people with disabilities and normal people in these activities, including the participation of institutions for the care of people with special needs such as (Baseera and Al-Hassan) institutions, which helped remove the psychological and social barriers that they may face, as this approach is considered part of Ain Shams University's vision in creating a comprehensive educational environment that supports diversity and enhances the spirit of unity among all members of the university community.

         
   
         

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abedeen, President of the University, had previously confirmed that integrating people with disabilities and normal people into the university environment not only contributes to developing their skills and abilities, but also enhances the values ​​of cooperation and mutual respect.

His Excellency added that enhancing the concept of inclusiveness requires teamwork and cooperation between normal and disabled people, as each individual is considered an integral part of the university community.

         
   
         

This came within the comprehensive campaign "Tamkeen" launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to raise awareness of the rights of people with disabilities in cooperation with the global Hope Givers campaign (HOPE GIVER), which aims to raise awareness among all segments of the university community, including students, faculty members and staff, about the rights of people with disabilities and the need to integrate them into academic and social activities.

The sports day included recreational games followed by five-a-side football matches to integrate students with disabilities and normal students. A para-taekwondo combat show was also organized between students, a running race for the rest of the disabilities, a wheelchair race on the track, in addition to speedball games, table tennis competitions and bell ball competitions with the assistance of Baseera Foundation.
