A Workshop on documentary and short film making at the Faculty of Mass Communication

Under the patronage of the University President, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abidin, Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Heba Shaheen, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, and Prof. Salwa Soliman, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication for Education and Students Affairs, the IHUB Center at the Faculty of Mass Communication, Ain Shams University, organized a workshop on documentary and short narrative filmmaking by director and writer Mr. Ahmed Abdel-Alim Qassem, General Manager of Tourism and Variety at NILE TV, in the presence of a number of faculty members at the Faculty of Mass Communication and students. Prof. Heba Shaheen welcomed director Mr. Ahmed Abdel-Alim, who holds a master's degree in "Trailer Art" and has won 19 awards from various art festivals around the world. She also thanked the organizers of the workshop from faculty members and students. Prof. Ahmed Abdel-Aleem Excerpts from the film "On University", which highlights the long history of Ain Shams University, explaining techniques for attracting viewers in films, such as building a scenario and creating impactful shots, and discussed the difference between documentaries, drama films and "Docudrama", explaining the unique characteristics of each type.

         
   
         

The program included showing clips from several films, explaining the differences between the teaser and the promotional show.

He also highlighted the most important differences between the novel and the scenario taken from it, sound effects and the element of silence and how they affect the film, and completed the workshop with discussions with the students, and expressed his admiration for their interaction regarding films and their techniques.

He stressed the importance of the phrase "He who does not read, does not write" to indicate the importance of watching films and being aware of their developments so that we can participate in their production.

He also pointed out the importance of artificial intelligence in the media industry, stressing the need to learn how to write commands accurately to obtain optimal results.

The workshop concluded with a tribute from Prof. Heba Shaheen to the director, Mr. Ahmed Abdel-Aleem, in appreciation of his efforts and distinguished contributions.
