Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received Dr. Dina Rashed, Assistant Dean at the University of Chicago, in the presence of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Khaled Kadry, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Prof. Hayam Wahba, General Coordinator of the Agreement and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business for Graduate Studies and Research, Ms. Heba Iskandar, Director of Community Development and Development at the Sawiris Foundation and Orascom Company, in addition to five outstanding students enrolled in the University of Chicago during the previous academic year 2023/2024 within the framework of the scholarship.
This meeting came before the introductory seminar organized by the Faculty of Business for the seventh consecutive year on the 2024-2025 scholarship programs provided by the University of Chicago in accordance with the cooperation agreement between the University of Chicago and Ain Shams University for the Faculty of Business and Orascom Group.
During the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, stressed the university's commitment to strengthening its academic cooperation with the University of Chicago, and expanding the base of beneficiaries of this cooperation. Pointing out the university's keenness to open up and cooperate with academic institutions with a global reputation. He also called on students to transfer their experiences and expertise to their colleagues within the university, which contributes to raising the level of the educational process and enhancing academic communication between students and graduates. He also called on them to continuously develop their capabilities and keep pace with developments.
Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environment Affairs and Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, also explained the necessity of students' participation in building and transferring knowledge and acquired experiences to all students and contributing to participating in developing activities within the university and the community.
Prof. Khaled Kadry, Dean of the Faculty of Business, expressed his gratitude for the students of the Faculty of Business receiving 20 scholarships over the past six years. He also praised the efforts made by all those in charge of this cooperation, thanking the university administration for the support and provision of all material and moral capabilities in order to support students in various academic, research and university activities that hone their skills to make them more competitive in the labor market.
Prof. Hayam Wahba also stressed the importance of the agreement, which began in 2019, stressing that this scholarship has borne fruit in achieving better scientific and cognitive levels for students. She also explained that 3 students from the college had the opportunity to complete their studies and graduate from the University of Chicago. This confirms that the student exchange program with the University of Chicago has achieved what it planned in developing cadres that enjoy distinguished education.
It is worth noting that the introductory seminar held in the hall of Prof. Ali Lotfy, Faculty of Business, witnessed a large student presence from the second and third years of the Faculty of Business in the credit hour programs. During the symposium, the five students who received the Chicago Scholarship during the previous academic year introduced the attendees to their experience during travel and study and the most important advantages they gained during this experience, thanking the faculty administration for the support and encouragement and providing such opportunities for students.
