Ain Shams University mourns Prof. Abdel Wahab Abdel Hafez

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedieen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University, mourn the great scholar Prof. Abdel Wahab Abdel Hafez, former President of Ain Shams University, President of the Arabic Language Academy, former Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and full-time professor in the Department of Agricultural Microbiology, who passed away this morning. They ask God Almighty to have mercy on him and to inspire his family, loved ones, and students with patience and solace.

The funeral will be held after the noon prayer from Abu Al-Makarem Mosque under Al-Firdaws Bridge in Salah Salem. To God we belong and to Him we shall return. The loss of Ain Shams University, Prof. Abdel Wahab Abdel Hafez, had a scientific career full of giving and achievement.

Dr. Abdel Wahab Mohamed Abdel Hafez was born in Dakahlia Governorate in 1937. He completed his pre-university education in Mansoura, then joined the Faculty of Agriculture - Ain Shams University in 1959.

After graduating, he was appointed as a teaching assistant in the Department of Agricultural Microbiology at the Faculty of Agriculture. He obtained a master's degree in agricultural microbiology in 1962, then a doctorate in the same specialization in 1966. He was appointed a lecturer at the college, then an assistant professor from 1972, then a professor in 1977. After that, he worked as a deputy for graduate studies at the Faculty of Agriculture from 1985 to 1987, then dean of the college until 1992, then president of Ain Shams University from 1992 to 1997, then a full-time professor until his death.
