Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Ahmed El-Awady, Director of the Center of Excellence for Sustainability, represents Ain Shams University at the COP29 Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

During the events, Dr. Ahmed El-Awady spoke about Ain Shams University's achievements in the field of calculating the carbon footprint within the university and the processes of rationalizing energy and water consumption in one of the sessions of the Department of Environmental Affairs and Meteorology at the Arab League pavilion at the conference.

Dr. Ahmed El-Awady also reviewed everything that has been done regarding Ain Shams University's commitment to implementing its initiative to reach a sustainable green university campus so that Ain Shams University becomes an example to be followed.

On the other hand, communication is taking place with many international bodies represented in the conference in order to reach research and applied solutions that can enable university students to implement some important ideas to serve sustainability in its comprehensive concept.
