Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received yesterday, Sunday, Prof. Stephen McGuire, Vice President of the University of East Anglia, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss enhancing academic and research cooperation between the two universities.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector, and Dr. Kamal Obeid, Director of the International Collaboration Department.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Diaa welcomed the delegation, stressing the depth of historical relations between Egypt and the United Kingdom, especially in the academic field.
He also gave a brief presentation about Ain Shams University, its various faculties, the number of Egyptian and foreign students, and its pioneering achievements locally and internationally, in addition to the distinguished educational programs and advanced scientific research it provides.
The President of Ain Shams University expressed his aspiration to build fruitful cooperative relations between the two universities, and to consolidate academic and research relations in a way that contributes to providing distinguished education and supporting sustainable development efforts.
For his part, the Vice President of the University of East Anglia expressed his appreciation for Ain Shams University's efforts in enhancing international cooperation, praising its distinguished position at the local and international levels.
He pointed out that the University of East Anglia is among the best universities in Britain in the field of scientific research, and offers a variety of academic programs in different specializations, and includes a large number of foreign students, expressing his aspiration to build partnership relations with Ain Shams University.
During the meeting, they discussed launching joint programs and dual degrees in undergraduate and postgraduate education, in addition to student exchange and cooperation in the field of research and in areas that achieve the common goals of both parties.
