Within the framework of the series of awareness symposia organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at Ain Shams University in cooperation with the Al-Azhar World Center for Electronic Fatwa at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, a seminar entitled “National Identity and Supporting the System of Values and Ethics” was held at the Faculty of Dentistry, under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Karim El-Batouti, Dean of the Faculty.
The symposium was held under the supervision of Prof. Walaa Mohamed Hamed, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and in coordination with Major General Hossam El-Sherbiny, Assistant Secretary of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector. The symposium was attended by Sheikh Tharwat Abdel Latif, a member of the Al-Azhar World Center for Electronic Fatwas.
In her speech, Prof. Walaa Mohamed Hamed welcomed the attendees and stressed that the faculty is always keen to cooperate with leading national institutions to serve the great Egyptian society, noting that organizing this symposium in cooperation with the Al-Azhar World Center for Electronic Fatwas confirms the university's message aimed at promoting the values of belonging and national identity.
She praised the initiative of the Al-Azhar World Center for Family and Community Awareness, stressing that the family is the first building block in building a human being, and the starting point for a stable and strong society. Hence the importance of this program, which aims to support the stability of the Egyptian family and provide it with the knowledge and values necessary to face the challenges of the age.
In his speech, Sheikh Tharwat Abdel Latif spoke about marriage and family life and the role of a good marriage in building the universe. He also pointed out how to make the right choice, as mentioned in the true religion, based on morality and religion, and taking the approach of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, when choosing a future wife in order to form a family with a solid entity, because this necessarily reflects positively on society, and thus society becomes moral.
He stressed the importance of treating women well, as the Prophet recommended on his deathbed, saying, “Treat women well.” He pointed out that the family problems that Egyptian homes are suffering from now are primarily caused by poor choices, noting the major role of the Al-Azhar Al-Sharif Family Reunification Unit in resolving thousands of problems related to family disputes, which confirms Al-Azhar’s influential role in Egyptian society and its keenness to preserve the entity of the Egyptian family.
