Within the framework of Ain Shams University’s keenness to promote scientific research and encourage academic excellence, and under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and under the supervision of Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Prof. Hatem Rabie, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University hosted a comprehensive introductory meeting on the State Awards and the University Awards.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Alaa El-Din Abdel-Halim Farag, Supervisor of the University Awards Office in cooperation with a representative from the University’s Electronic Portal administration headed by Prof. Dr. Rasha Ismail, Director of the electronic portal,, and the Director General of the General Administration of Scientific Research, in the presence of a number of faculty staff and teaching assistants from the faculty.
The symposium organized by Ain Shams University focused on raising awareness of the role of the university’s Awards Office in connecting researchers with available academic awards opportunities. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to promoting scientific excellence and innovation by developing systems that support academic recognition and scientific achievements. The event also emphasized the importance of these awards in promoting scientific research and providing recognition for distinguished contributions in various fields of science, which is in line with the university’s strategic goals of enhancing scientific research capabilities and strengthening its academic standing.
During the symposium, the conditions for applying for the State Awards and University Awards were defined in detail, with a focus on the importance of the justifications for nomination and their role in the selection process, in addition to the mechanisms for preparing the nomination file and the importance of documenting the achievements of the candidates. The symposium also addressed the importance of scientific research, academic achievements, diversity in scientific writings and methodologies, in addition to the efforts of young researchers in scientific research and serving the academic and local community. The spotlight was also placed on the distinguished scientific contributions that contribute to enhancing the chances of obtaining awards, according to the criteria for each of the State Awards and University Awards, taking into account the difference in these criteria according to the type of awards and their various fields.
