Within the framework of the presidential initiative “A New Beginning to Build a Human Being”, and within the series of awareness symposia organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Ain Shams University in cooperation with the Al-Azhar World Center for Electronic Fatwa, a symposium entitled “Strengthening National Identity and Supporting the System of Values and Ethics” was held at the Faculty of Nursing, under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Sahar Moussa, Dean of the Faculty
The symposium was held under the supervision of Prof. Hiam Refaat, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and coordinated by Major General Hossam El-Sherbiny, Assistant Secretary for Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, and was attended by Dr. Mohamed Emad El-Kholi, Member of Al-Azhar World Center for Electronic Fatwa.
In her speech, Prof. Sahar Moussa welcomed the attendees, stressing that this symposium comes within the framework of the university's keenness to spread cultural and intellectual awareness among members of the university community, including faculty staff, students, and employees.
She stressed the importance of educating young men and women about to get married about the components of a stable and successful family life, which contributes to building a strong and cohesive society.
Prof. Hiam Refaat pointed to the pivotal role of the university stage in shaping the identity of young people and developing their awareness, stressing the faculty's keenness to organize cultural events on an ongoing basis to achieve this goal. She also praised Al-Azhar Al-Sharif's initiative for family awareness and its effective role in confronting extremist ideas and promoting moral values.
The symposium aimed to raise awareness among young men and women about to get married about ways to achieve family stability and mechanisms to support the system of moral values, in addition to strengthening the cohesion of the Egyptian family and society in the face of the negative effects of websites that broadcast ideas and values that are inconsistent with our culture and religious identity.
At the end of the symposium, the discussion was opened for students to ask questions, as students' participation was very effective, as they asked many questions, which reflected their need for correct opinions and awareness away from unreliable websites.
