Dr. Walaa Mohamed Saber El Bousati, who holds a PhD from the Department of History, at the Faculty of Girls, at Ain Shams University, won the Boutros Ghali Prize for Scientific Excellence in African Studies (second place) in its sixth session for the year 2024.
This honor came for her distinguished thesis for obtaining a PhD, which was entitled: "The Occupied African Islands: A Study of Some Islands in the Indian and Atlantic Oceans (1965-1995)". The thesis was supervised by Dr. Aida Salima and Dr. Magda Hamoud, and the thesis received first-class honors in recognition of its scientific originality and quality of research.
It is worth noting that Dr. Walaa Al-Bousati has a distinguished record of academic achievements, as she previously received the Helmy Shaarawy Award for the best master's thesis in the field of African studies in 2016. Her master's thesis was published in a book entitled "Africans and Arabs in the Zanzibar Revolution", published by the Arab and African Research Center.
It is worth noting that this award is granted by the "Kemet Boutros Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge" for academic excellence, and is dedicated to honoring the best doctoral dissertations submitted to Egyptian universities. In its current session, it focused on the fields of public international law and international organization, and African studies, including political science and African regional organizations.
Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and the University Awards Office, congratulated Dr. Walaa Al-Bousati on this honor.
