Prevention and Treatment of Drug Addiction and Its Impact on Individual and Societal Behavior: A Symposium at the Faculty of Dentistry

As part of Ain Shams University's commitment to its societal responsibility and its dedication to providing community service to all members of society, the Faculty of Dentistry at Ain Shams University organized an awareness symposium titled "Prevention and Treatment of Drug Addiction and Its Impact on Individual and Societal Behavior." The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; and Prof. Kareem El-Battouti, Dean of the Faculty. The symposium was supervised by Prof. Walaa Mohamed Hamed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

Dr. Amal Hussein Mohamed Mohamed, Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Faculty of Environmental Studies and Research, lectured at the symposium, in the presence of a large number of students and staff from the Faculty of Dentistry.

The symposium addressed the prevention of substance abuse, methods of treatment, and the profound impact of drug addiction on individual and societal behavior.

         
   
         

Initially, the symposium targeted the students of the Faculty of Dentistry, followed by sessions for the faculty staff. Comprehensive information was shared about addiction, including its types and its effects on the behavior of individuals struggling with substance use. The sessions also highlighted the traits and characteristics of individuals prone to addiction, emphasizing the fragile psychological structure that can make a person vulnerable to falling into the cycle of substance abuse.

The symposium also reviewed how to protect and protect ourselves from falling into the cycle of drug abuse, explaining the importance of early detection of any cases of drug abuse and how to deal with such cases and treatment methods, and explaining the drug abuse detection campaigns provided by the state from specialized government agencies in order to protect individuals, students and all members of society from falling into the cycle of drug addiction.
