The Faculty of Pharmacy at Ain Shams University hosts a seminar on Artificial Intelligence as part of its cultural season

As part of the ongoing series of awareness seminars organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Pharmacy, the third lecture of the cultural season for the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year was held under the title: “The Importance of Artificial Intelligence in Our Future Lives.”

The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Amani Osama Kamel, Dean of the Faculty. It was supervised by Prof. Rola Milad Labib, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.

The lecture was delivered by Prof. Manal El-Hamamsy, Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy. She discussed the significance of artificial intelligence (AI) across various fields, especially in medicine.

   
   

Dr. El-Hamamsy highlighted how AI enables computers to learn by processing vast amounts of data and developing systems capable of supporting medical work. She emphasized the role of AI in achieving integration between human and artificial intelligence, contributing to advancements in the healthcare sector.

The seminar addressed the use of AI in disease diagnosis, particularly its ability to analyze medical imaging with high precision, facilitating early detection of diseases such as cancer. Additionally, she shed light on AI’s potential to predict the spread of infectious diseases through the analysis of medical data.

Dr. El-Hamamsy also pointed out that deep learning algorithms enable medical devices to interpret and analyze images more effectively, offering accurate diagnoses and marking a transformative leap in healthcare.

The seminar witnessed significant engagement from students and faculty members, sparking fruitful discussions about AI's potential to enhance quality of life and its pivotal role in the future.
