Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty and supervisor of the department, emphasized the importance of organizing a cultural day to celebrate both Korea and Egypt, particularly as the competition is a major event for Korean language students to showcase their talents and proficiency in the language. She highlighted that cultural exchange between the two countries is an achievement that should be supported, as it has a significant impact on various aspects of life. This year, the department is also witnessing the graduation of the 16th batch of Korean language students, providing outstanding graduates for the job market.
She confirmed that the continuous collaboration between the faculty and the embassy over the years reflects the faculty's commitment, along with the Korean Embassy in Cairo, to spread Korean culture among Egyptian students and raise awareness about Korean culture.
She praised the efforts of the embassy in providing competitions, alongside books and resources made available by Korean language instructors, to improve the quality of Korean language speakers among the faculty's students. She also noted that by the 13th edition of the competition in 2019, it was no longer limited to Egypt, but had expanded to include students of the Korean language from Jordan, the UAE, Morocco, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Kenya, and many other countries, allowing them to compete together and demonstrate their Korean language speaking skills.
Mr. Hong Jin-Oh, the Korean Ambassador to Cairo, mentioned that the previous and ongoing cooperation has borne fruit, with graduates working in numerous Korean companies and other cultural fields that enrich the relationship between the two countries. He emphasized that the Republic of South Korea is an important partner for the Middle East and Egypt, highlighting the need for more cooperation in cultural and human exchange.
He continued by stating that culture and human exchange serve as a bridge that strengthens relations between the two countries, fostering strong ties beyond just the economic realm, and creating a greater need for collaboration in the fields of culture and human exchange.
