Vice President of Ain Shams University receives a delegation from the Fulbright Commission

Prof. Dr. Abdul Nasser Sengab, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, received a delegation from the Fulbright Commission headed by Dr. Maggie Nassif, Director of the Fulbright Commission Office in Cairo. He praised the joint cooperation between the university and the Fulbright Authority in Egypt as one of the most important bodies in the fields of academic and research cooperation.

For her part, Dr. Maggie Nassif expressed her happiness in cooperation with Ain Shams University in the previous period, noting that the door will be opened for a number of grants in the coming period.

The delegation went to the Faculty of Computer and Information to give an introductory lecture on the scholarship programs offered by the Fulbright Commission for the development of professional capabilities of faculty members for a period of 10 weeks from 30 June to 8 September 2020 in some American universities.

This is in the areas of information technology which includes software engineering and development, network engineering, high performance computing, information security, wireless technologies and networks, electronic security, database systems technology, information science and artificial intelligence (in areas related to information technology).

The delegation then went to the Faculty of Engineering where they held a meeting with Prof. Ayman Ashour, Dean of the Faculty. An induction seminar was held for the professional development of faculty members for Fulbright scholarships in the fields of renewable energy and engineering (solar, wind, hydropower, biofuels, geothermal, electrical engineering, mechanical and chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, mathematics). These specializations should be directly related to the field of renewable energy where grants do not cover the fields of petroleum engineering or nuclear energy.

Fulbright scholarships do not include any individual research, for faculty members with a Master's degree with a minimum of five years of university teaching experience, PhD faculty members with a minimum of three years of university teaching experience, Faculty with a Ph.D. degree with university teaching experience not exceeding five years from the date of obtaining a Ph.D.
