The activities of the 19th International Conference of the Department of Physical Medicine, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Medicine, at Ain Shams University, launched under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University. The opening was witnessed by Prof. Ali El-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, and Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals. The conference will continue for five days until January 12.
During the conference, Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, praised the pioneering role played by the Department of Physical Medicine, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation in developing this field, stressing the importance of such conferences in enhancing the position of the faculty as a scientific beacon that serves the community and contributes to achieving medical excellence at the local and international levels.
Prof. Heba Allah El Shamy, Head of the Department of Physical Medicine, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation and Conference Chair, stressed that the conference aims to present the latest global research and modern treatment plans in the field of rheumatology and physical medicine. The joint scientific sessions, which include a group of professors and experts from Egyptian and international universities, seek to convey these developments to doctors in a practical and simplified manner, in line with the vision of the Faculty of Medicine and Ain Shams University to enhance and develop medical education.
In the presence of Prof. Osama Mansour, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Rania Salah, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Hala Sweid, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs at the Faculty, a group of faculty staff and a number of doctors from the Police and Armed Forces Hospitals, and the conference was also attended by Prof. Brigadier General Hani Nagi, Director of the Rehabilitation Center in Agouza, Dr. Amal El-Ganzouri, Professor of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation, and Major General Reda Awad at the Armed Forces.
The conference includes a number of specialized workshops at the highest level. It will resume starting from Friday, January 10, and will continue for 3 days under the supervision of experts, to raise the practical level of students.
On the theoretical side, interactive sessions were held that addressed the latest scientific developments and proposed solutions to difficult points in the field.
On the academic side, the conference was keen to play its role in serving the community, as it hosted experts in the field of prosthetic devices to provide the necessary support to people with special needs, confirming the conference’s message of achieving integration between scientific and societal aspects.
