Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received a delegation from the Royal College of Surgeons in London as part of the delegation's visit to the university hospitals, coinciding with the launch of the "Basics of Surgery" course accredited by the Royal College, which is held within the university hospitals. The delegation included Dr. William Thomas, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Dayem, and Dr. Kevin Bateson.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of Hospitals, Prof. Essam Fakhry, Deputy Executive Director for Therapeutic Affairs and Director General of Al-Damardash Surgical Hospital, and Prof. Mohamed Al-Ghannam, Director of the Cardiovascular Diseases and Surgeries Hospital.
During the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen expressed his pride in the fruitful and continuous cooperation between Ain Shams University and British academic institutions, most notably the Royal College of Surgeons in London, noting that this cooperation reflects the depth of relations between the two sides.
He stressed Ain Shams University's keenness to expand the scope of cooperation with the Royal College of Surgeons in London, which opens new horizons for academic and research development, and enhances the university's ability to provide advanced educational and medical services.
He also stressed the university's commitment to continue its efforts to enhance cooperation with major international universities to advance the higher education and healthcare system in Egypt.
For his part, Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, stressed the hospitals' commitment to keeping pace with the latest international standards, by continuously updating educational and training programs, making them a leading model in providing comprehensive healthcare.
He praised the joint cooperation between the university hospitals and the Royal College of Surgeons in London in providing surgical skills courses (BSS) and (SSSHP), stressing the role of this cooperation in building qualified medical cadres capable of facing future challenges.
In turn, members of the delegation of the "Royal College of Surgeons in London" expressed their happiness with the cooperation with Ain Shams University Hospitals, stressing their aspiration to enhance a fruitful partnership that contributes to the development of medical education.
It is worth mentioning that the delegation’s visit to Ain Shams University Hospitals will last for three days. The delegation began its activities by organizing a training course to prepare trainers, in addition to a group of educational and training activities that contribute to developing surgical skills and enhancing academic cooperation between Ain Shams University Hospitals and the Royal College of Surgeons in London, which lays new foundations for exchanging expertise and raising the level of medical and surgical education in Egypt.
