The Higher Coordination Committee at Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, held a meeting yesterday in the presence of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environment Affairs and Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research on behalf of the President of the University, with a delegation from the British University of Exeter to develop an executive plan to begin activating the partnership between the two universities, which is expected to begin in the next academic year.
This partnership is the first of its kind in Egypt and Africa, and aims to establish a distinguished university campus in Egypt for the University of Exeter, within the international campus of Ain Shams University.
This partnership, in line with the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, will support key national reforms that focus on internationalizing education, enhancing its quality and expanding access to it, supporting innovative research and enhancing opportunities for research collaboration and global partnerships, supporting exchange between students and faculty staff and increasing opportunities for cultural and academic exchange, and enhancing cooperation between academia and industrial sectors.
This partnership is also expected to achieve several key benefits, including expanding access to education, by enabling students in Egypt and neighboring regions to gain access to study programs that offer globally recognized degrees, in addition to supporting innovative research.
It is also worth noting that this partnership will enhance cooperation initiatives in the field of research for global challenges, in addition to training faculty staff and professional development and activating partnerships between universities and the industry sector, enriching academic experiences, in addition to preparing graduates for the labor market by designing programs in a way that works to provide students with the necessary skills to meet the requirements of modern labor markets, with cultural and academic exchange.
This partnership will also support relations between the United Kingdom and Egypt, and enhance cooperation at the cultural, industrial and academic levels.
