Ain Shams University won first place in the Middle East regional qualifiers for the Oxford University Price Competition under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University. These qualifiers, which were held from February 1 to 4, 2025, came in implementation of the cooperation agreement concluded by Ain Shams University with the Bonavero Institute at the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford in 2022, under which the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University became the regional partner of the University of Oxford in the field of moot trials.

The University President had inaugurated the competition and its international conference on the first day, stressing the importance of such initiatives that work to develop education by linking it to practical reality, as well as in partnership with prestigious international bodies such as Oxford University, as well as Columbia University in the United States, which participated in the opening conference and in the competition’s activities.

This year’s qualifiers witnessed great competition between many universities from the Middle East region from several countries including Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia, Iraq and Jordan. More than thirty judges from India, Mexico, Britain, Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia, Palestine and Bahrain participated in judging the competition.

Ain Shams University team won first place in the Middle East. The faculty team consisted of students from the English Department of the Faculty of Law, namely: Mohamed Wael - second year, who won the award for best pleader in the competition, Ahla Emad, third year, Duaa Ali - third year, Farah Basem - fourth year, Karim Madin, fourth year, Karim Maged - fourth year. The team was trained by Reem Jamea - fourth year, and Reem El Shazly - graduate student.

With this victory, the team qualified to participate in the international competition that will be held at Oxford University in Britain from April 21 to 25, 2025.
