A Chinese Spring Festival and Chinese New Year 2025 Celebration at Ain Shams University

The Confucius Institute at Ain Shams University organized a celebration of the Chinese Spring Festival and the Chinese New Year, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Amani Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, and Prof. Nasser Abdel Aal, Director of the Institute.

The celebration was held at the university's Grand Conference Hall with the participation of a group of important figures specialized in Chinese affairs, an elite group of professors and students of Chinese language departments in Egyptian universities, and a large number of faculty staff and students from the Faculty of Al-Alsun ​​and the Confucius Institute at Ain Shams University.

         
   
         

The celebration was attended by Prof. Amani Kamel, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Ambassador Ali El-Hefny, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice President of the Egyptian-Chinese Friendship Association, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun ​​, Prof. Nasser Abdel Aal, Director of the Confucius Institute, Prof. Hassanein Fahmy, Head of the Chinese Language Department, and Prof. Omaima Ghanem, former Egyptian Cultural Counselor. From the Chinese side, the Minister Plenipotentiary, Director of the Education Office in China at the Chinese Embassy, ​​Lu Xun Sheng, Mr. Dr. Bai Ke Chang, President of the Union of Chinese Students and Scholars in Egypt, representatives of the Orient Center for Arts and Culture, representatives of Chinese institutions and companies in Egypt, and a group of Egyptian and Chinese professors, officials, and students attended.

At the beginning of her speech, Prof. Amani Kamel, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research, congratulated the attendees on the celebration of the Chinese Spring Festival and the Chinese Lantern Festival, wishing that the Chinese New Year would be a year of goodness, blessings and happiness.

She stressed that Egypt and China have close common relations, and pointed out that cooperation between Ain Shams University and Chinese universities has witnessed great momentum over the past ten years and that Ain Shams University pays great attention to cooperation with Chinese universities in various scientific programs and specializations.

         
   
         

For his part, Minister Plenipotentiary Lu Xun Shen expressed his happiness with the hospitality of Ain Shams University, and extended his congratulations to the attendees on the New Year, adding that 2025 is the year of the snake, which symbolizes intelligence and cleverness, wishing for more progress in scientific and educational cooperation between Egypt and China, especially with Ain Shams University.

Minister Plenipotentiary Lu Xun Sheng described Ain Shams University as one of the oldest universities in the Middle East and Africa, and that it has many partnerships and mutual research, and it has been at the forefront in the field of e-learning, which will open the door to opportunities for scientific research and student exchange.

For his part, Ambassador Ali Al-Hafni, in his speech, extended his congratulations to the friendly Chinese people. He also thanked Ain Shams University and the Confucius Institute for inviting the Egyptian Friendship Association to participate in this important celebration at Ain Shams University, which makes significant contributions in the field of education and scientific research at the national, regional and international levels.

Prof. Nasser Abdel Aal, Director of the Confucius Institute, explained that the Chinese Spring Festival celebration is the most important Chinese holiday and is called the Lunar New Year. He praised the efforts made in the celebration, which expresses Ain Shams University’s enthusiasm for Chinese culture and the mutual appreciation between the Egyptian and Chinese cultures.

         
   
         

The celebration included honoring the pioneering professors in the field of Chinese studies who shouldered the responsibility of teaching the Chinese language, literature and culture in Egyptian and Arab universities, namely: Prof. Abdel Aziz Hamdy Abdel Aziz, Prof. Mohsen Sayed Farjani, Prof. Asia Ahmed Youssef, Prof. Samia El-Damhougi, Prof. Amal Kamal Abdel Aziz and Prof. Magdy Mustafa Amin. Prof. Amani Kamel presented them with the Confucius Institute shield in appreciation of their contributions to strengthening the bonds of scientific and cultural cooperation between Egypt and China.

The celebration activities also included holding a large artistic party, which witnessed a large turnout of students, during which Egyptian and Chinese students presented various and diverse artistic performances that reflected an atmosphere of friendliness and friendship between the Egyptian and Chinese audience.

At the end of the celebration, awards were distributed to the creative students of Ain Shams University, and the Chinese Educational Counselor, Dr. Bai Ke Chang, President of the Union of Chinese Students and Scientists in Egypt, and Prof. Hassanein Fahmy Hussein participated in handing out the awards to the distinguished students.
