Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, the Faculty of Mass Communication organized a training workshop on "The Future of Journalism in Light of Digital Developments" on Wednesday, February 12, in the presence of Prof. Heba Shaheen, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Salwa Soliman, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, faculty staff, teaching assistants and students.

Dr. Heba Shaheen stressed the importance of training workshops that host media experts in various fields of media work to enrich students' practical skills and experiences.

She explained that content is the basis of media work, as technology, despite its challenges, has provided new opportunities for ambitious media professionals.

The workshop hosted Dr. Tarek El-Awady, Assistant Editor-in-Chief of the Middle East News Agency and an academic specializing in digital media, to share his experiences in evaluating journalistic platforms for first-level students.

Dr. Tarek praised the students' efforts, explaining that the profession of news journalism has developed strongly to become more integrated with the media in the digital environment, which requires the journalist to acquire multiple skills to produce news content.

He stressed that success in the media field depends on proficiency in the Arabic language and mastery of a foreign language, which enhances job opportunities. He also stressed that a good journalist does not only transmit news but also provide integrated content that attracts the audience.

He discussed the importance of editing and voice-over in illustrated news reports, explaining that a picture is worth a thousand words, so it must be carefully chosen to ensure the appropriate visual impact.

He recommended giving priority to graduates of media faculties in membership in press and media unions, supporting specialization in journalism and enhancing the role of specialized journalists, focusing on professional ethics and avoiding publishing shocking content to the public, and enhancing students' skills in digital media production.

At the end of the meeting, Prof. Heba Shaheen, Dean of the Faculty, honored Dr. Tarek Al-Awady with the Faculty's shield in appreciation of his distinguished contributions in evaluating the news journalism platforms implemented by students.
