Ain Shams University launches the "Shoryan El-Ataa" festival to raise awareness of the importance of regular blood donation

As part of efforts to raise awareness about the importance of regular blood donation as a humanitarian necessity to save lives, the " Shoryan El-Ataa" Festival was launched. The festival is organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, the President of the University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in collaboration with the Shoryan El-Ataa Association, the University Hospitals, and the Ministries of Health and Culture.

The festival aims to establish the culture of regular blood donation as a message of hope that gives life to millions of patients, especially those who need regular blood transfusions, such as patients with thalassemia, chronic blood diseases, surgical patients, and accident victims.

The festival included several activities, including units for early detection of cancers and chronic diseases, in cooperation with medical teams from the Ministry of Health, as well as various cultural and recreational events in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture. There was also a blood donation campaign, in addition to a workshop on the importance of regular blood donation, presented by specialized teams from the " Shoryan El-Ataa " Association.

The festival is being supervised by Prof. Mohsen Al-Alfy, President of the " Shoryan El-Ataa" Association, and Major General Hossam Al-Sherbini, Assistant Secretary of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development and will continue until February 20th.

It is worth mentioning that the "Shoryan El-Ataa" initiative was launched 25 years ago from the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University, with the aim of spreading the culture of blood donation among students and the community, given the lack of any source of blood other than human donation. Blood donation is not just a charitable act, but a fundamental pillar of healthcare, as it is used to treat patients with leukemia, thalassemia, hemophilia, kidney failure, as well as cancer patients and bone marrow transplant recipients.

Providing adequate supplies of safe blood is a key element in supporting health services and saving the lives of millions.

The " Shoryan El-Ataa" Festival contributes to enhancing social solidarity and establishing a culture of giving, ensuring that Ain Shams University remains a leading model in social responsibility and humanitarian initiatives.
