The President of Ain Shams University receives the team visiting the Faculty of Engineering’s accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received a delegation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, prior to the delegation’s visit to the Faculty of Engineering at the university, headed by Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Basset Abdo, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, and the membership of: Prof. Adel Ali Mohamed Abu El-Ela, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Menoufia University, Prof. Soumia Taha Abu El-Fadl, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, Prof. Amani Ahmed Ragheb, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, Prof. Marwa Ahmed Qamar El-Dawla, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Tanta University.

The visit comes within the framework of evaluating the Faculty of Engineering in preparation for obtaining institutional accreditation. The meeting was attended by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Amani Osama, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Omar El-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Miriam Ayad, Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center at the University, and Prof. Ass. Dr. Haitham Zohni, Director of the Quality Assurance Unit at the College.

         
   
         

During the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Diaa stressed the university's keenness to implement quality standards and academic excellence, pointing to the continuous efforts made by the university and its colleges to develop the educational and research process, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 for higher education.

The meeting also reviewed the steps taken by the Faculty of Engineering to ensure that accreditation standards are met, and the delegation members praised the development witnessed by the university, stressing the importance of continuing cooperation between the Authority and the University to enhance the quality of higher education in Egypt.

Prof. Omar Al-Husseini explained that the Faculty of Engineering has 18 programs accredited by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, in addition to 8 programs that have obtained international accreditation, and that the college is always working to meet the established standards for accreditation and quality to raise the quality of the educational process, and raise the level of competitiveness of graduates locally and internationally. The college has also achieved tangible results and distinguished positions at the level of Egyptian universities in national and internal excellence awards.

Prof. Miriam Ayyad, Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center, stressed the center's keenness to provide all means of support to the university's colleges and institutes in terms of ensuring the quality of education and qualifying for accreditation. This is done through continuous communication with faculties, holding technical support visits, follow-up, performance evaluation, simulation, and providing training courses and workshops within the center's annual plan or at the request of colleges when needed. The faculties' strategic plans are also reviewed and their consistency with the university's strategic plan is verified.

Following the meeting, the authority's delegation made a field visit to the Faculty of Engineering to assess the infrastructure and observe the progress of the educational process, in addition to holding meetings with all concerned groups to follow up on the mechanisms for implementing quality standards, within the framework of the college's progress to obtain institutional accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Education.
