"Between Obesity and Thinness"... The first seminar of the cultural season at The Faculty of Pharmacy

Within the framework of the cultural season activities for the second semester of the academic year 2024-2025, the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University, organized a symposium entitled "Between Obesity and Thinness... A Journey to Better Health", under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Rehab Othman Ahmed, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs.

The symposium was held under the supervision of Prof. Rola Melad Labib, Acting Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

   
   

The symposium was delivered by student Nouran Mohamed Kamel Abdel Salam, an honors student at the Faculty of Pharmacy, where she discussed the importance of proper nutrition in promoting body health and immunity, and preventing chronic diseases.

She also reviewed the causes of obesity and ways to deal with it through different diets, such as the keto diet, intermittent fasting, and a balanced diet, explaining the benefits and risks of each diet.

She discussed the causes of thinness and ways to deal with it, in addition to eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, providing guidelines for dealing with these cases.

The symposium concluded with a set of tips for students and staff on healthy nutrition methods, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

At the end of the symposium, Prof. Rola Melad honored the student Nouran Muhammad Kamel Abdel Salam in appreciation of her distinguished participation in the cultural season activities.
