Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, the Cultural and Social Activities Departments of the General Administration for Student Care, under the executive supervision of Mr. Ibrahim Said Hamza, Assistant Secretary of the University for Education and Student Affairs, organized a seminar titled "Online Betting, Gambling, and the Risks of the Dark Web," in collaboration with the Faculty of Mass Communication.
The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Heba Shaheen, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, who highlighted the risks of online betting and gambling as one of the challenges facing the country. She described it as one of the fastest-growing phenomena, deceiving youth with the illusion of quick profits, while bringing with it numerous dangers that affect individuals and communities.
She also pointed to the phenomenon of the Dark Web, which is associated with illegal activities such as organ trade, drugs, weapons, cybercrime, and the sale of stolen information.

Dr. Walid Haggag, an information security expert and advisor to the Supreme Cybersecurity and Information Technology Advisory Committee, also participated in the seminar. He emphasized the difference between the Surface Web, which is the visible part of the internet that we use daily, such as Google, Facebook, YouTube, news sites, and blogs. This part is visible and indexed by search engines and represents a small fraction of the entire internet.
He also explained the Deep Web, which is the largest part of the internet, hidden from most users, and contains information protected by passwords, such as online banking accounts, emails, company internal networks, and private databases.
He elaborated on the concept of the Dark Web and mentioned that the Tor network is one of the most famous examples of Dark Web networks, using a complex encryption system to hide users' identities.
At the conclusion of the seminar, Prof. Heba Shaheen, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, honored the guest speaker, appreciating his role in enriching the students' knowledge and experiences with the many dangers that technology brings.
