The Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, at Ain Shams University, organized a seminar entitled "How to Calculate Your Carbon Footprint and How to Confront Climate Change Around You", under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, and the supervision of Prof. Yomna Safwat, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, within the framework of the Environment Week, in which Prof. Heba Salah Hamed, Professor of Fish Physiology at the Faculty of Girls for Arts, Sciences and Education, at Ain Shams University, lectured.
At the beginning, Prof. Yomna Safwat, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, stressed that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility that requires collective efforts from all members of society. She added that current environmental challenges, such as climate change and pollution, require greater awareness and immediate action. She pointed out the importance of environmental awareness in promoting sustainable behaviors among new generations. She stressed the need for cooperation to achieve the goals of sustainable development. At the end of her speech, she called on all students to participate in the various activities of the Environment Week.

During the seminar, Prof. Heba Salah Hamed, Professor of Fish Physiology at the Faculty of Girls for Arts, Sciences and Education, at Ain Shams University, discussed the concept of the environment, the definition of climate change, the causes of climate change, its impact on disrupting the ecological balance, and its effect on living organisms and humans, which may cause a deterioration in human mental health and may result in ecological sadness, which is a source of psychological and health pain.
Dr. Heba also discussed the impact of climate change on marine organisms and fish, and the phenomenon known as mass fish mortality caused by the formation and fall of acid rain, the rise in the temperature of rivers and seas, and the change in their pH, which may negatively affect other sectors in the country such as the industrial and tourism sectors. Dr. Heba Salah also discussed the definition of the carbon footprint, how to calculate the carbon footprint of an individual, and how to calculate it at the level of institutions and countries.
The proposed solutions to reduce climate change, spread cultural awareness, and change some behaviors among individuals to confront climate change were also reviewed.
