Coinciding with the visit of His Excellency French President Emmanuel Macron to Cairo and within the framework of strengthening international cooperation in the scientific and academic fields between the Arab Republic of Egypt and France, the "French Egyptian Conference on Scientific and Academic Cooperation" was held on April 7, 2025, at Cairo University.

The Department of French Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University, participated in the conference activities, attended by Prof. Maha Aliwa, Head of the Department, and Dr. Nadia Shama, International Relations Coordinator at the Faculty. The teaching assistants are Salma Hisham, Menna Ahmed, Mahitab Yousry, and Marianne Astori.
The conference was attended by a number of prominent figures in higher education from both countries, including Prof. Ayman Ashour, Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Mr. Philippe Baptiste, French Minister of Higher Education; Mr. Eric Chevalier, French Ambassador to Egypt; Prof. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities; Prof. Mohamed Diaa El-Din Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Mohamed Rushdi, President of the French University; and Prof. Marilyn Crivillo, Vice President of Aix-en-Provence University, several current and former ministers, numerous presidents of Egyptian and French universities, and a select group of faculty members from Egyptian universities were also in attendance.
The conference witnessed the signing of several scientific and academic partnership agreements between Egyptian and French universities. His Excellency, the President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, signed several agreements with the University of Versailles in the medical field and with the University of Aix-Marseille in several other fields. This came considering Ain Shams University's openness policy and its commitment to providing the best educational services to its students.
The Department of French Language and Literature, under the auspices of Professor Dr. Hanan Kamel, was keen to participate in this conference, which represents the nucleus of international initiatives aimed at strengthening Egyptian French academic cooperation and opening joint horizons in the fields of literature, language, and scientific research. The Faculty of Arts is always keen to keep abreast of developments in these fields.
