For the eleventh year, the Faculty of Al-Alsun prepares to launch its annual scientific forum for young researchers in mid-April

The Graduate Studies and Research Sector at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, is organizing the 11th Scientific Forum for Young Researchers, entitled "Visions of Change: New Trends in Literature, Language, and Translation," on April 15-16, 2025. The forum is held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University; Prof. Amani Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty; and under the supervision of Prof. Ashraf Attia, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research.

Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, explained that the forum includes several themes covering various research areas in language, literature, and translation.

In the field of literary studies, it addresses the impact of social and political transformations and technological applications on modern literary topics, the role of artificial intelligence in creating literary content, the possibility of machine-generated literary texts, the role of literature in preserving cultural identity, the impact of social media on literary language, and the analysis of digital literary texts and their impact on the reader.

   
   

In linguistics, the forum will discuss the development of vocabulary and linguistic theories in the age of artificial intelligence, digital lexicographic studies, the future of foreign language learning in light of digital transformations, the role of cultural institutions in preserving linguistic heritage, the impact of migration on languages, the change of hybrid languages, and argumentation methods and their use in presenting and addressing contemporary political and social issues.

In the field of translation studies, this year's forum will address the impact of artificial intelligence on the translation industry, machine translation tools, the future of the human translator, the challenges of preparing translators and interpreters in light of digital transformations, marketing translation and content creation, automated processing of the Arabic language, major national projects and the role of translation in localizing their terminology (localizing the nuclear energy industry, localizing the automotive industry, etc.), and the cognitive and perceptual aspects of oral translation.

Prof. Ashraf Attia, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, stated that the forum will feature several specialized sessions on language, literature, and translation studies, during which young researchers will share their ideas and research papers. This will also include a special session on the Faculty of Al-Alsun's international cooperation activities and how to leverage them to enhance the international reputation of the faculty and the university.

This year, the forum is scheduled to host Prof. Mustafa Riyad, a full-time professor at the Faculty of Arts, for a lecture on the role of artificial intelligence in assisting translators. Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies at the Faculty of Law, will also address issues related to intellectual property rights and the rules governing translators' work. The guest of honor at the forum will be Her Excellency Ambassador Soha Gendi, former Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs.
