President of Ain Shams University receives delegation from the University of Exeter to enhance academic and research cooperation

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received a high-level delegation from the University of Exeter, UK. The delegation was attended by Prof. Richard Follett, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter, and several members of the accompanying delegation, including Prof. Peter Clack and Professor Stuart Burhope.

During the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen emphasized that the partnership with the University of Exeter represents a pivotal milestone in Ain Shams University's journey towards academic and research excellence. He noted that this collaboration seeks to expand educational horizons for students in Egypt and the region by offering internationally recognized study programs, opening up broader opportunities for academic and professional excellence.

         
   
         

He explained that the research partnership will contribute to addressing contemporary global challenges by supporting innovation and launching joint research initiatives that align with the needs of the international community.

His Excellency also emphasized the importance of exchanging faculty staff and students through advanced training programs, which aim to enrich the academic experience and enhance the exchange of expertise between the two universities.

The President of Ain Shams University added that the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides stipulates the establishment of a branch of the University of Exeter within the new Ain Shams University campus, representing a qualitative leap in expanding the international reach of the two universities, supporting innovation, and providing education and research at high international standards.

His Excellency noted that this partnership represents the first presence of a Russell Group university in Africa, a historic achievement that enhances Egypt's educational standing regionally and internationally and supports Ain Shams University's strategic vision to transform into a smart, global university.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Mohamed Diaa emphasized that the collaboration with the University of Exeter embodies a shared commitment to preparing generations capable of addressing the challenges of an ever-changing world and contributing effectively to achieving sustainable development goals through advanced education, pioneering scientific research, and fruitful international cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Ain Shams University’s representatives, including Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Amani Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Sherweit El-Ahmady, Director of International Students and Mobility Office, Prof. Yassin Al-Shazly, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Rasha Ismail, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, Prof. Ahmed Al-Sabbagh, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Mohamed Salehin, Head of the Department of Urban Design and Planning at the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Sahar Dowidar from the Faculty of Medicine.
