Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Matini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Amira Ahmed Youssef, Dean of the College, and Prof. Dr. Mai Helmy, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, the Cultural and Media Committee of the Youth Welfare Department and the College Student Union organized the opening session of a local simulation model The future (environmental and climate problems in the Egyptian localities), a study of the reality of the local council of Giza Governorate
This model is considered a pioneering student experience that aims to prepare a trained student cadre capable of documenting various problems in the localities and presenting initiatives to solve them with a scientific vision, in cooperation with experts.
The inaugural session of the council’s work and the discussion of the committees’ reports in cooperation with the various departments of the college dealt with the following topics:
1- Chemical and radioactive emissions and pollutants, their causes, components and impact on the climate (Chemistry and Physics Sections)
2- Sources of air pollution and how to deal with them (Chemistry and Botany sections)
3- Water and adaptation to agriculture and agricultural fertilizers (Plant Section)
4- The impact of climate change on biodiversity, opportunities and challenges (plant and animal sections)
5- Climate change and its impact on food security (Biochemistry Department)
6- Climate change and the risks of desertification (sections of geography and botany)
7- Social and psychological effects of climate change (Departments of Sociology and Psychology)
What is distinguished in this model is the use of experts and the academic part to consolidate the scientific opinion, with the help of a number of faculty members in the college, namely:
